Q: Is Easy Build Stone suitable for DIY projects?
A: Yes, absolutely! Easy Build Stone is designed for both professionals and DIY enthusiasts. The installation process is straightforward and user-friendly. A top tip is use multiple layers at a time as its natural stone, each layer can vary in colour, very similar to bricks use multiple pallets/layers to get an even coverage of textures and colours.
Q: How do I install Easy Build Stone slips?
A: Easy Build Stone can be stuck to blockwork or cement fibre boards. It is not suitable for plasterboard. Installation involves applying the adhesive to the wall and slip using a notched trowel, placing the stone slips onto the wall, cutting to fit edges or corners, pointing, and washing down.
Q: Do I need to purchase a special adhesive for Easy Build Stone?
A: Yes, we recommend using our specially formulated cladding adhesive to ensure the best results and durability for the stone slips.
Q: Do I need to wash to stone?
A: Although we try to keep the stone as clean as possible, it has come out of the ground. We recommend washing the surface of the stone slips to remove any haze or residue. The key part to remember is to ensure the back of the stone is clean to ensure a full secure bond between stone and substrate.
Q: What pointing do I need to use?
A: A sand and cement mix is perfectly fine with the cladding slips which means this will give you more choice and flexibility to get the colour of the pointing right to compliment the overall finish. You can also use a pre set coloured pointing mix too. Choosing the right coloured pointing is just as important as the stone as the colour and pointing finish can change the overall look dramatically.
